Skin Biopsy

Let's Get Started!

In order for our team to make the most informed diagnosis, we may perform a skin biopsy to confirm our presumptions. The goal is to ensure that we are diagnosing patients with the appropriate condition so we can create a personalized form of treatment!

What is a Skin Biopsy?

A skin biopsy requires the removal of cells or skin and tissue samples from the surface of the patient’s body. The sample is taken to a lab, where it will be analyzed to help doctors make the proper diagnosis for your condition.

types

of biopsies

Three common biopsies that are used today:

  • Excisional: Scalpel is used to remove the area of skin.

  • Punch: Circular tool is used to remove rom a deeper layer of skin (i.e. dermis)

  • Shave: Razor-like tool is used to remove only the top layer of skin
