In order for our team to make the most informed diagnosis, we may perform a skin biopsy to confirm our presumptions. The goal is to ensure that we are diagnosing patients with the appropriate condition so we can create a personalized form of treatment!
What is a Skin Biopsy?
A skin biopsy requires the removal of cells or skin and tissue samples from the surface of the patient’s body. The sample is taken to a lab, where it will be analyzed to help doctors make the proper diagnosis for your condition.
Three common biopsies that are used today:
Excisional: Scalpel is used to remove the area of skin.
Punch: Circular tool is used to remove rom a deeper layer of skin (i.e. dermis)
Shave: Razor-like tool is used to remove only the top layer of skin
Don’t hesitate to give our office a call for more information.
The biopsied area will be cleaned and numbed before removal. Then, the biopsy will be removed, and you should feel little to no discomfort.
It is important to us that we are making the most informed decisions possible regarding your state of health. At Lumiere Cosmetic Vein Center, we are always dedicated to the overall wellbeing and safety of our patients. Contact us today to learn more!
